Drowning, in a darkness that not even the brightest light can stop, can break into, and chip away. All because you’re crying, and I think it’s my fault.
You lay asleep next to me, mumbling. Words that make no sense spill from your mouth. I brush the hair from your face, and you move a little closer to me. It’s comforting, this warmth that fills me, it really is. But somewhere in me, I know this won’t last forever, that this fleeting moment is too precious to forget, but knowing me, i will. And it will hurt me, to lose a moment such as this.
The sun shines through the blinds, and i get up. I pull the blinds down more and tuck the covers tighter around you. You mumble something, and a small smile comes across my face. I head to the kitchen and boil some water for tea. I grab strawberries and raspberries from the fridge and put them in a little bowl. The water starts to boil, and I turn the stove off. I grab two mugs and pour the water from the pot into them. I take two tea bags from the cabinet and let them brew in the mugs. I walk slowly, quietly, up the stairs, with one hand holding your mug, and peak into our room. You’re asleep soundly, your breath is so soft, and quiet. I slowly put the mug on the nightstand and shut the door, grabbing my watercolor pad, some watercolors and brushes on the way. I paint a soft, warm feeling, in the form of a season; cold autumn, its a month of fallen leaves, pretty rain, close hugs, warm fires, and a cold not quite bitter, blowing into it, a gush of warm breath. I paint with soft colors, and add lots of water, to make them even more muted. It's a calming thing, and makes me think of your soft hugs, sweet kisses, and your calming presence.
Something thuds in the house, and i jump, nearly knocking down my paint cup. I immediately rush up stairs and open our bedroom door. You’re sitting on the floor; blankets still wrapped around you. You’re rubbing your head when i walk up to you, ‘are you okay?’ ‘mm. I think i fell off in my sleep.’ you answered, giggling. I smile, and help you up. I grab the mug of tea and hand it to you, leading you downstairs to the kitchen. You sit down at the kitchen counter and watch as i grab the egg carton and butter from the fridge. ‘Do you want one egg or two? Or should we switch it up?’ I ask ‘ummm, could i have one egg, with some fruit and a bagel with cream cheese?’ you ask in a voice that has just woken up, its soothing and soft. Deeper than normal too.
When i met you, i didn’t think this was how it would end. I didn ‘t think we’d both end up dead. A knife was in your chest, and you bled out in pain, and no one ever found your body, because you disappeared before you bled all the way out. Your memory gone. And no one ever heard the thud of the knife entering your body, the crack of your bones snaping, the gurgle of your blood in your throat. I jumped off a building, and no one ever found me, because i disappeared before i hit the ground. And no one ever heard my body hitting the pavement. Because the moment before we died, our memory and exsitance faded away. And i missed us before my final moments because you were the only thing keeping me going, and i was what caused you to stop.
when the world stopped working, only one train remained on its tracks.
Why? That’s what they all ask, why did the world stop running? People don’t know, they just say because things stopped working. But something happened, and the government did what they could to stop it from leaking out. They were doing pretty good, until i came along. I plan to figure out everything, every mystery, every lie, every truth, and, especially, what happend to our world?
Every one talks about one train, it’s still running, it comes around with traders from around the world every year for the Great Market, and every year, without fail, I manage to miss it. This year will be different though, I know it, it has to be.
Vince is the “rogue one” in her village. She does things that she’s not supposed to, but its been a while since she really has been happy, and she finally is, so the townsfolk let her get away with quite a lot. Ever since Akuma wandered off the train, and made home in her cabin, she’s changed. She used to behave, and everyone loved it, she was always sad though, they never really saw her smile. So when they saw her with Akuma, they knew, her obedience was a small price to pay for her to have a friend. Akuma didn’t know why he had gotten on the train, but as soon as he was on it, he wanted off, when it finally made its stop, he leaped from train window, without so much as a glance back, as he stumbled through the crowd, he saw a small child, 5 years younger than him, he scooped her up and brought her out of the crowd, they’ve been friends since. He’s found his home, but he knows, Vince can’t stay in this village, every year the villagers always causes a commotion as she heads towards the train, even though they know she’ll second guess herself, they don’t want her to leave, the world is to dangerous. The village is a small one, only a handful of houses line the street, but its a famous town, because every year, at the start of summer, Rue village hosts the Great Market, and it’s also home to the only running train station left in this world
What will happen to this village once she leaves? Will Akuma be right beside her, or protecting Roe when she leaves the little village? Who knows, bad things always happen to the brightest of people. Thats what she always said.
i woke up, and a girl lay beside me, hunging onto my chest tightly. I looked around, and I realized, this was a hotel room, but last night, I had gone to a bar. The sun shone brighlty through the sapce in the blinds that never seemed to close, no matter how hard you tuggeed at them. My head was pounding, I groaned, then quieted myself. who ever lay beside me, i had to be gone before she woke. I dont remeber whaat happened last night, good, then there’s no attachment. i slide off the bed, which is unusally tall and grab my clothes from the floor, I put them on and look in the mirror. messing with my hair so I dont look so dishelveled. I grab my bag and coat, slip on my shoes, walk out the door, and to myself, I say, dont look back. I step into the elevator and press the lobby button, when I see the door of the room I just walked out of open, and the same girl who was hugging my chest is looking around, where did you go? she says and looks over and see’s me, I stare eyes wide and mouth open, you! she screams, she looks so sad, I feel bad, I snap out of it and quickly hit the close button as she runs toward the elevator, it closes before she makes it. I can hear her banging on the door as the elevator goes
down,
down,
down.
I race out of the lobby as fast as my legs carry me, i’m out of breath by the time I make it across the street. I look around for the bar I walked into last night. I find it, its a sad little pub, with about, maybe, two people inside? The windows are blurry. I push open the door and walk inside, the bell rings as I do. I walk up and as the bartender for a glass of whiskey, a voila’ it apears. I drink every last drop and walk back into the bright sunlight of the street. I check my watch, the train comes in 10 minutes, just enough time to make to the station. The train screeches to halt and I hop on, my ticket in my left hand, everything else in my right. Taking a seat, I lay my things on the seat beside me and pull out a book, no longer human, by Osamu Dazai. One of my favorties. and then I hear footsteps, and heavy breathing. Someone taps my shoulder. I paste on a smile and turn around. The girl from the hotel is in front of me. I stare, why did you follow me...? You idiot!
